Anyway to move installed Games from Xbox to Xbox?

#1MetaXGrossPosted 7/7/2013 2:44:55 AM
I have a Dragon Ball Z Raging Blast 2 installed to my Xbox, my cousin owns the game.

He never installed it, & now the disc is un-readable to him, but will work just fine in mine.

Is there anyway I can get the installed version to his Xbox without him having to buy/rent the game?

Thanks!

Move it to a USB Flash Drive and move it to his hard drive?

No, installed games are console specific. I had to reinstall all my games after I switched hdd's, None of them were playable after doing the transfer.

Anyone know WHY they are console specific?

You still need the disc to play it, so I know it's not a security issue.

I think it's the way content is created on a console.
Nearly anything you create on a console is given its own kind of license. Since the only way to renew an installation's license is to re-install it...

I suppose it might be something to do with pirate copies? Like you could copy around the game's installation to anyone around and pirate copies would then work, despite them not being able to install normally. I dunno.

Moral of the story is, tell your cousin to look after his stuff better.
(Why is it always cousins and little brothers?)
