The latest Microsoft Marketplace 'sale' is selling games for more than Gamestop

#1harvest masterPosted 7/22/2013 9:45:57 PM
Tom Clancy's End War is currently on sale on on the marketplace, $10 instead of the usual $20.

Gamestop sells this game for $3.

TC's Hawx? on sale for the Gamestop price.

Hawx 2? on sale for $2 more than Gamestop's non sale price.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, on sale for $15. Gamestop's price? $7.

Which is even less than Microsoft is asking for the first RS:V: $10. Gamestop? $3.

Spilnter Cell: Double Agent - "sale" price: $10, Gamestop price: $3

Splinter Cell: Conviction - "sale" price: $15, Gamestop price: $10

this is incredibly ridiculous and they're still treating their loyal monthly subscribing gold members like crap.

Games for Gold doesn't cut it if they still consider this a sale, selling games 7-8 years old for several times that of the biggest game retailer.

They're apparently trying hard to damage customer loyalty in a crucial moment when a very considerable chunk of their customer base has a high probability to jump ship to Sony in the coming generation.

the majority are too old to be found new, and even with used games you're still getting more than what you get from a digital download. of course it counts.

wrong, you can find almost any game new on half.com, also, ur right you are getting more with a used game, more as in scratches on the disc, somebody's booger in the instruction manual, and fecal matter on the case.

Which is why these prices would be cheaper than new copies.

That being said, these are kinda disappointing, most should have been $5-$10

Only one of these games is even being sold new, so especially in this situation, the price of the used game is the price of the game. Bottom line.

You looking in 1 place for a game doesn't equal the value of it everywhere.

Gamestop isn't the end all be all

we're talking digital download 'sale' prices being twice as much as a used copy at the biggest videogame retailer. there's just no justification for that.

these should be permanent price drops, not sales.
