LED or LCD?

I'm looking that a few bigger TVs, to get ready for the next gen of systems.

I'm looking at this. I currently have a Vizio LCD and a budget of $500

The only difference between LED and LCD is the backlighting, the screens are the same tech.

LED is the superior backlighting tech.

LEDs still have bleeding issues through. Some manufacturers also struggle with uneven backlighting

Samsung, Direct Array backlighting, 100% even coverage, no "bleeding" because the screen is still the same tech as an LCD screen.

Both LED and LCD TV's use LCD screens, the only thing different is the backlighting. LCD TV's use florescent backlights which have odd colors, run hot, use more electricity, and react MUCH slower to onscreen lighting changes.
