So I found out what is causing the blurry ghost lines. My wife uses a workout DVD and she turns it on and fast forwards to the part where she starts. Then she pauses it and goes about her business. Apparently after several minutes it goes into a screensaver mode. The blurry lines are from the pattern on the screensaver; it's blue and black, with lighter shades of blue matching the blurry ghost patterns perfectly. I asked her how often this happens, and she of course says, "All the time..."

TVs are completely commoditized now. It doesn't matter

Try and get a plasma if possible. Best gaming experience due to it's high refresh rate and dark black levels. If you HAVE to get lcd/led (not sure why you have to) make sure the refresh rate is at least 120hz.
Annoying the moderators since December 2000.

I only (yes only) use Sharp Aquos for gaming. This is after years and years of usage.

Microsoft consoles don't work on Sony televisions for obvious reasons, so I would definitely avoid buying a Sony TV.

Any comment on the heat level of modern Panasonic plasmas versus other LCD/LEDs?

Any noticeable difference?

I have a great 40 inch Samsung that my parents got me for a present around the time Skyrim launched. I was playing on some terribly small SDTV before for many many years. XD

Was pretty late to the HDTV party, but I have yet to see a single TV that has better quality than mine among my friends/family.
Every dang time...
