It'll be fine. They put that up to make you feel bad for not having a Microsoft-certified drive. That's all.
They do that when the internal flash ram inside the USB stick doesn't meet minimum read & write speed requirements.
The best test to determine whether or not a flash drive will work well for games is the Shank demo. Download and run that demo.
If it runs full speed, smooth animations, no choppy framerate, the USB drive will work just fine for other games.
If that demo does NOT run full speed, if the framerate is choppy, or worse, runs about 1 frame every 5 seconds, then the drive is too slow and will exhibit problems in other games as well. --- http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-US/gallery.aspx?gamertag=TheBlueStig My Forza 4 gallery, all paintjobs available for purchase on my storefront.

How could you return if if you opened it and used it?
I was going to make a dirty joke from that comment regarding the profession of your user name but...last time I did that it got modded. Needless to say, the above information might be enough for you guys to do the ground work by yourself. --- "Everything popular is wrong." - Oscar Wilde
