Forza 4 disc 2 error

#1Revocation68Posted 8/21/2013 6:18:37 PM
I can't install disc 2 at all. I load up disc 1, go to the main menu and select "install disc 2" but every time I pop in disc 2 I get an error that states "Please Install Disc 2". I don't know what the problem is as my disc 2 is in good condition.

Did you buy the game used??

There are 2 different 2 disc versions of Forza 4 floating around. The first one was the release version and the other came out around the time of the Forza 4 Essentials 1 disc version was packed in with consoles. The disc 2 from the older version won't work with a disc 1 from the new one(and vice versa).

What's really confusing is that both versions of disc 1 share the same number, and both versions of disc 2 have the same number. The only way to tell is to try to install them.

Essentials gives no option to install a second disc as it's only on one disc.

I bought the game used. Yeah this sounds confusing now, I didn't know there were two different two disc versions (not including the essentials version). How will I know I have the correct discs (the old versions or the new versions) ?

Right. But there was a different version of the 2 disc version released around the same time.

There are 3 disc sets out currently

Release Set, 2 discs(LCE is the same discs as standard, LCE content is DLC codes)
Essentials, 1 disc(came with console bundles)
Later Set, 2 discs

Don't believe me? Then go get a copy of the LCE and buy a new copy and try mixing the discs. It won't work. Heck, they won't even use the same disc 1 or disc 2 installs already on the hard drive from the LCE version.

The only way to know for sure is to either buy it brand new, or to start the game and try to install the included second disc.

Depending on how busy the store you got it from is, they might do this for you at a demo 360 while you're still there.

I had my LCE set and a brand new set in front of me and there was no difference between the two physically(other than more wear on the older one). How I found this out BTW.
