Back by popular demand!!!

+Action-packed and highly entertaining plot full of unique and fun characters
+Better writing and jokes than previous entries in the series
+Superpowers are badass
+CHEAT CODES!!!
+Fantastic soundtrack with both hilarious and brilliant licensed songs used in just the right places
+Lots of replayability and plenty of missions, side-missions, and more
+Spoofs many games and other pop culture, and does it extremely well
+Almost every mission has you doing something completely different from any that came before
+Genuinely intimidating primary antagonist
+Engaging upgrade system, both for your character and for the different weapons available
+Excellent and flexible character creation system
-Strange control choices
-No offline co-op options
-Online pass
-Activities aren't as fun
-Combat gets repetitive and can be boring
-Boss fights go on for too long and all the same thing
-Visually unimpressive and kind of ugly
-Screen tearing
-Doesn't feel enough like an actual Saints Row game

Verdict:

Rent it

How bad is the screen tearing? I've been noticing it more and more with newer games, and it's not fun to look at.

I say either rent it or get it on Black Friday for $25 or so.

I bought it full price on release day, and while I like the game a lot, I can already see its shortcomings. I'll get my money's worth out of the game because I like it enough to get 2 or 3 playthroughs out of it, but if I had it to do over again, I'd rent it for now and buy it when it gets cheap.

And to think...people laughed at me when I said MS could out-EA EA any day of the week.
Who's laughing now, *****es???

Pretty bad, though Splinter Cell: Blacklist is markedly worse if you are looking for something recent to compare it with

Great review. I'm gonna skip on Saints Row IV for now, I'll probably grab it after I grab GTA V - around that time it should be easy enough to find a used copy.
