Aside from the Removal of one of the the USB connections and Audio, changing the A/V connection, and changing the Touch Sensitive Buttons the E and S model are pretty much the same internally right?

It's the same cooling system stuffed into a smaller casing, which means a higher chance of overheating.

The removal of the Digital Optical Audio output port is enough to never buy the E model, that one change instantly kills every device that needs it, which these days is most of the headsets on the market as well as most of the surround sound systems.

My S model is hooked via HDMI to my (new this year) TV, then the TV outputs digital optical to my 15-year-old, but still good, surround receiver. Digital out on the Xbox itself is a non-issue for me, though there are some of situations where it could be troublesome.

Surely that would be a problem if you want full 5.1 surround from the xbox though? Most TV's seem to output just Dolby Digital 2.0 from the optical out, regardless of whether the input source (the xbox in this case) are outputting 5.1 or not.
