Well I enjoyed it.

[Edit] realised you seem intent on getting W3 by your topic title. Yes, you need to understand Witcher 2 to get any kind of link to Witcher 3, otherwise the story events and characters will be meaningless.

It's a must play even if you aint getting 3 ! It's that good.
If you think this has a happy ending, then you haven't been paying attention.

Honestly, from a story standpoint, probably not. But the more Witcher knowledge you come in with, the more enriched your experience will be. Where you draw the line on the books and both games is up to you.
It's better than bad.

Horrible, unsatisfying, not enjoyable combat mechanics

Didn't have the best mechanics yeah, but still overall a good game that's cheap.
If you conjure something in Vivec, and no ones around to see you, do the Ordinators still kick your ass?

I came into witcher 2 knowing nothing expect that the witcher 1 was supposed to have been a pretty good rpg. I felt kind of lost at first because all the characters all know eachother. It just felt like I was jumping into a middle of a story. Anyways, I watched some witcher 1 recaps on youtube and also read the story of witcher 1 on Wikipedia, along with the background on the books. It really made everything a lot more enjoyable.

The witchers a different type of rpg for sure for a console. I've had a couple nights of gaming where I didn't fight or anything. Just spent like 2hrs exploring the town, talking to everyone, some crafting etc.

The combat mechanics are great, but its takes a while to get going. At first your very limited, but once around level 10 or so and get some talent trees going you can really do a lot more. The games not forgiving either, so even as a level 2 guy you could find your getting attacked by like 10 bad guys and have a tough time of it.

My only complaint would be the crafting. Its a bit clunky. The game has a storage unit you can use, and in some games lately, you could be able to still craft with the stuff in your storage, which makes things super simple. But in witcher you gotta pull out what you need into your inventory and through to the crafting npc which can be tiresome after a while.
