What is something that is prevalent even in mainstream games you cannot stand?

3D games have been out for a long time now. Super Mario 64 and others paved the way. Zelda: Ocarina of Time and so on. Early on, many of these games had camera issues and faults. Part of that was the growing pains of bringing action and platforming games into 3D.

HOWEVER.

It's been a LONG time now, and these games are STILL consistently coming out with lackluster and even 'bad' camera systems. This. Is. UNACCEPTABLE.

In this day and age, and after all this time of being made, camera issues, especially significant ones should no longer be an issue.

I don't know who is the most at fault here? Developers being lazy, because they know it doesn't matter THAT much? Publishers that don't want the extra time and resources needed to address the issue? Big time reviewers who basically give these games a pass and don't knock them ENOUGH in the scores in order to affect a change in this thinking during game development?

There are many, many things to be addressed in the world of video games, some maybe more important than this, but this one has bothered me from the start, and it still bothers me to this day.

i can think of two things off the top of my head, one is a technical issue and the other is a gameplay element

screen tearing
quick time events

both drive me nuts

What? No they're not. What games are you playing? We've come a long way since the dark era of crap PS1 action games.

What bugs me about some of the mainstream games is how they copy off each other and everything ends up feeling the same. Like crafting. Not every game has to have crafting in it but hey, the guys in the boardroom noticed that the kids love minecraft and other triple A titles are doing it so we should too, right?

On-line multi-player in a predominately single-player game.
I only want to play solo campaigns, and so it bugs me when a game is released with maybe a 5 or 6 hour campaign, all because they have to shoe-horn in a multi-player experience that will be played for about 6-months and then die off.

I understand it in games like CoD, but not in games like Uncharted or the Last of us.
Bit I digress.

It really did.
These days it wouldn't be as required, since that game was designed with a D-pad and nothing else in mind. The camera *had* to be good because there was no player control.

Now though, instead of the auto look down, it would just allow you to use the right stick.

Every game just has to be open world, it's a blatant disregard for people's time.
