Question for those who've played Fallout 3/NV and Skyrim...

#1i b LinKPosted 3/8/2014 1:21:49 PM
I bought Skyrim last Black Friday and I am just now starting to play it. I have not noticed any meters for "wear and tear" on weapons and apparel like Fallout 3/NV. My question is, does wear and tear exist or not? I've been carrying multiple items of the same thing to repair but I couldn't figure it out. My guess is that it is not there but there is always a chance that I have overlooked something or maybe I needed to be at some kind of crafting table.

I miss the condition bar for weapons/armour.

Although the armour always degraded too fast :/

There's no wear and tear.

If you have a weapon with an enchantment, you have to have filled soul gems to replenish them.

E.g. Sword with extra frost damage.

Depletes frost damage after 10 hits. Then you must re fill it with soul gems.

I'm glad it was taken out. It makes sense in FO, but in TES it's just a tedious waste of skill points.

only maintenance is with the enchantment stuff. Soul gems aren't exactly easy to come by

Overburdened and ReportMeTyree, thanks for the extra info. This is my first Elder Scrolls game so all these little tid bits are very helpful.

Why does it make sense in one but not the other?

Just because it's sword and shield doesn't mean things don't need to be properly maintained. It doesn't "make sense", it's just something they removed to make it more casual friendly.
