Of all the DiRTs, which goes more for realism/simulation? I don't care for which of them has easier, faster, more fun gameplay.

I've played 1 and 3.

Out of those options I would say Dirt1, it's seems pretty realistic, fast driving through narrow roads, no room for mistakes.

The third one seems a lot easier, it slows down your cars in the corners (I'm sure you can turn this off).
And suddenly Boom! Straight from your mamma's womb.

Thanks. I've considered WRC4, but I've read that it's not as engaging as DiRT (terrain problems, bumps in roads never register or in-game shocks suck).

Dirt is ok but they changed a lot from when it used to be Colin McRae racing...and IMO they made it worse, not a lot but noticeably. I'd personally go for 3 as it's just more refined and certainly looks much better.

not 2.. i'm the opposite and enjoy arcade racing.. so 2 is my favorite, and likely be your least.
i think 3. but honestly, for hardcore race sim fans.. dirt is really not a good option.

I played all 3 and I have to say the 1st is still my favorite.

Dirt 1, 2, and 3 are all good, but the farther along they go in the series the less simulation aspects appear in the games.

You won't find any real tuning settings like the Forza games in any of the Dirt games, there's only a handful of sliders with 5 positions each.

There's more traditional Rally stages with a co-driver and course notation in Dirt 2 than there are in 3.

Are you using a controller or wheel? I haven't put too many hours into the Dirt games, but to me Dirt 2 feels the best when using a wheel.

Just an FYI, both Dirt 2 and 3 feel the best when driving with all the assists OFF. You really don't want traction control systems slowing you down when you're trying to drift smoothly through a turn at 100mph.
