There are extremes, and there's no real reason to go for either extreme unless it fits the game. People like to whine about big characters in games like Gears... But these are soldiers fighting enormous alien monsters. why would they be malnourished, twiggy, effeminate, half dressed weirdos with gelled up hair? It doesn't make sense in the style they're going for. Personally, I'm all about characters like Gordon Freeman, Isaac Clarke, Harry Mason and such, I'm sick of seeing overly girly oddballs and body builders and it blows my mind that people seem to prefer these extremes in most cases. |

That's another thing I noticed- I think white is considered more in many Asian cultures.
The main protagonists look white or in many cases are hard to distinguish between Asian?
It's probably just perspective.. but I do think that in lots of Asian cultures percieve westerners particularly white males are considered quite marketable..

If JRPGS are going to use feminim features for the main heroes why not just have lead female heroes?
It would make more sense, appeal more to 40% of the gaming demograph and may even appeal to both western and eastern male gamers with less confusion.
