80gig ps3s (the one with only 2 usb ports at the front) are quite sturdy

Wow, in a mall where I go to, there is a ps3 and xbox360 rental shop, and in this shop they have like 15-20 pieces of 80 gig fat ps3s turned on from 10am (opening mall time) to 10 pm(closing mall time)

thats like 12 hours turned on, and its been like this for the past 2 years , and none of their units had any problems like ylod, nor lens problems

WOW!

Maybe it's a different 80gb system I doubt it the same one that's been on for that long period of time. I mean 12 hours 7 days a week sounds a little out there to me.

Are they just turned on or actually used that whole time? There's a huge difference between sitting in the XMB all day and playing a game all day.

the place is quite packed every afternoon so ...there really isn't much idling for the ps3s

the place is airconditioned hehe

I can confirm one unit with my account on it that it is the same ps3 hihihi ^^

They might have long lasting hardware in comparison to other models, but I doubt you could knock one on the floor without getting a crack in the hull or some such.

I kinda agree, my 80g(no bc) has been taking a serious black ops beating for the last 4 months straight at least 12hrs a day. And it's still as flawless as been bought from day 1. *knocks on wood to be cautious :)*

actually my ps3 fell from over one metre from the floor when the piece of wood that holds it up broke. its fall was broken partially from the tv (giant dlp) but it hit the floor pretty hard.

Now it has scratches on the back-side, but it works perfectly and i have had it for two years and i use it oftenly. perhaps i am just lucky XD
