people still play online but it is mostly japanese people so if you want to talk to them then it might be a problem but if you don't care about that go for it

How's the campaign? I don't care about the story - is it a fun 3rd person shooter?

Campaign is meant to be played in co op. I wouldnt recommend it if you intend to play alone. Personally I liked LP but couldnt get into LP2 sadly.
