Yes, but if you wanted the game that bad to begin with you'd probably buy it new anyway. Besides who knows, maybe somewhere down the line they'll unlock the content anyway, and even if they don't so what, not all devs will be dumb enough to make it content that you really do need or want to play. I know its the principle of the whole thing, but its not some great injustice.
If you don't like it simply don't support it, there are a million games on the market, so just find something else to play. I know its besides the point and not a proper solution, but hell if the game sales get hurt from it it'll stop regardless.

akuma634Posted 8/12/2011 10:46:44 AM | As long as it isn't anything vital. Mass Effect 2 on PS3 had stuff locked out but it was all DLC from the 360 version so it's not a huge deal. Rage just has some sewer levels locked off that they admitted that most players who bought it new probably wouldn't notice anyway. It's not like you play 8-15 hours of a game and then it says "Pay $14.99 to see the ending or return to the title screen."

People can be as mad as they want to be about this, but at some point all games are going to be 100% digital just because that is more profitable (no manufacturing, shipping and packaging costs, sometimes no third party retailer, but you can still charge the same price). When that happens this won't be an issue.
Weirdly enough, this would be an acceptable solution to me. Locked content on disc, or restricting access to other single player content, isn't. It doesn't even affect me, because I've bought like 10 used games in my entire life, but I still disapprove of the practice.
