Getting these weird dropouts in video and sound on my PS3

#1paxtaxPosted 9/16/2011 3:57:38 PM(edited)
Recently on my PS3 my video and audio have been dropping out during Netflix, Hulu Plus, and occasionally, games using my HDTV. The signal takes like 3-10 seconds and then comes back but the fact that this happens worries me, anyone else experience this before?

Are you using an HDMI cable? Sounds like a common handshake issue to me.

Yeah, jiggling the Hdmi cable actually can replicate the issue and sometimes will make the picture fuzzy on my tv.

That was my other account, I accidentally posted using it on my other pc, anyway yeah jiggling replicates the issue but my concern is whether or not its from the port or the wire.

A myriad of things can cause a handshake issue. Just because a wire has dropouts on one tv with one piece of equipment doesn't mean it will have an issue with another.

My advice is to switch physical HDMI ports on your tv, like go to HDMI 2 or HDMI 3, whatever. If it continues to be a problem then try another cable.

This is extremely common and is rarely a bad port. Usually can be solved quite easily.

Blame it on the DRM which can sometimes create havoc with HDMI handshakes.
