How is From Dust?

#1docholliday504Posted 9/22/2011 2:05:04 PM
The guy who made it, Eric Chahi made a couple of my favorite games Another World and Heart of Darkness. But it doesn't look like it shares much in common with those games.

Anyone who has played 2 or 3 of these of these games recommend?

Yes, your best bet is to try out the demo.

It's unlike anything he's done before, but it's a lot of fun although the game plays more like a real time strategy game.

Those are some of my favorite games of all-time as well so... take it that as you will.

Quick Unrelated Question:

You ever play Flashback: The Quest for Identity?

I've finished From Dust and I really loved it. At first, it seems pretty easy and straight forward, however some of the last levels had me racing around the map trying to prevent disaster. Decent length, and there is a challenge mode too.

The negatives for me include the camera, it is a bit hard to manage at times but you get used to it. The other thing I thought was a negative was the soundtrack, or lack thereof. After a nice musical number to open the game with, the rest of the game is pretty quiet except for the noise your tribe makes and environmental sounds. I think it was a missed opportunity to include a good tribal soundtrack, but it is no biggie, game is awesome.

Yup, that's the game. You wake up in the jungle with no memory of who you are and you need to recover your memories, and track down the shape shifting aliens that got in that situation.

It's really cool, kinda like a Sim-City/RTS hybrid. I don't think it's worth its price though, and I'd wait for a discount.
