I speaking of any game where you make your own protagonist, whether Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Saints Row, etc.
For me (as a guy) I always make a girl, because I'd much rather stare at an attractive character (to a straight male) as opposed to a traditional videogame "action dude". For me, this is what makes a game like Saints Row genius, as if I was just a typical gansta guy, it would be boring, but as a female its genius.
However, I go against this in cases where a game has romance, then I'm a guy (since i don't care to romance guys, unless you can be a lesbian (or there are Asari available as romance partner).
That said, in an rpg with choices like Bioware games- I always start with an evil male character, and then usually play as a good female for the second playthrough.
I'm not at all against female protagonists but when it comes to making my own character, I make myself, a guy. And I've never understood the "I don't wanna stare at a guy's butt" mentality. --- "Have confidence in the God that has confidence in you." PSN: PositiveCalvin/ 3DS Friend Code: 0259-0454-7272
Almost all the time, if allowed, I will make a blonde female character named Amelia.
Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Kingdoms of Amalur demo, Penny Arcade Adventures, etc. etc. --- "So does anyone know a single white female who looks like Elena Fisher? If so, call me!" Twitter: @Teepo_64

Botnus912 posted... usually a guy first, and then a girl the second time around
This, and if there are alignments, I'll make a male and female for both. A Good aligned male is always my main though. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E29iOPSxF94&feature=fvw PSN: The_Moustache Feel free to add me, just tell me first.
