If it wasn't for the horrible last minute additions of Vaan and Penelo, it would have one of the greatest casts in the history of the series. The battle system (gambits and all) is great, but misunderstood by the majority. While its only real flaws are the bazaar system and the weak story ending. |

Besides being one of the formative console JRPGs, it also boasted a nearly unprecedented degree of re-playability for its time due to the customization it gave players. Not nearly enough people have played this game when they really ought to.

had a very original combat system, best graphics of the series very thought out and brilliant story.
Also it wasn't hard into the anime crap like many FF titles are, I for one prefer real people vs. pokemon looking characters and childish acting.
I also think X-2 is under rated, it deserves a lot of the hate it gets because the story is just awful. Why they chose to make it a stupid chick flick is beyond me but it had incredible game play.
Nice job system and had all those mini games and sidequests, it was a lot of fun to play even though each cutscene made you die a little more inside. That would have to be III. I almost never hear people even mention it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the DS remake (it was on par with VII, imo, but then I think VII is overrated)
III was also the first I played and the one I've played the most, so take that as you will. |

criticized okay but people want to say it was a bad game which is ridiculous. I was 9 when it came out and I managed to beat it, so I don't think a grown person has an excuse for not being able to. I've also heard people use lame excuses like "Squall was emo" which that's not even true. If anything Squall was an emotionless drone until the second half of the game but even then he didn't constantly whine like the entire cast of 13 did. All opinions here but to me it had the very best artwork of any FF, best character design, second best story and one of the best soundtracks. Battle system is hated by many people but it really shouldn't be, hard to learn but it was still a lot of fun. |

FF7 (and FF10) are highly overrated. FF7 is not great, but not bad either - it is mediocre. FF10 is one of the worst FF's in the franchise.
FF8 ... not sure how people rate this one. It is tied with FF2 for worst FF, though.
FF9, 12 is rated appropriately.
I'd say that FF13 is the most underrated one. It is a better game than the other FF's that have appeared on Sony's systems, yet it seems to me to get a rap of being one of the worst FF's ever made. I agree with all of this. Aside from the bit about 13, it's rubbish and it deserves to be held as such. On topic I'd say 12 is the most underrated. Vaan and Penelo were meh, and you can tell that Matsuno didn't see it through till the end, but otherwise it was great. People got hung up too much on the "wahh the combat is like an mmo, oh the horror!". VII is quite possibly the most overrated game of all time. --- Cultivating an immunity to rebuttal is not a substitute for being correct. |

yearisyesterdayPosted 6/23/2012 12:42:32 AM | I LOVE IX, but I'd say XII is the most overrated. It is my easily my favorite FF since FFIX, and people act like it was some travesty. FFX is the most overrated. It was my most disappointing FF until I played XIII.
