no order:

Nintendo
RockSteady
Bethesda
Naughty Dog
Square-Enix (haters gonna hate)

I know you said five, but I feel compelled to throw in Konami who rocked the beginning of the PS3.

In no order:

Gust - They are gradually improving, and keeping their formula the same. Sure, they don't have perfect cel-shading, or high graphics, but they tend to make up for it in characters, and skill depth from what I see. They have made a group of characters that I have grown to love, and it is super rare I end up liking all characters in a series, especially spanning three games. Then their Ar Tonelico game, sure, I wasn't a fan of the stripping, but the cosmosphere parts really made me appreciate the characters more. If there is one thing they can do, it is definitely make you like their characters.

Sega - Mainly, Yakuza games, and Valkyria Chronicles. I might have only played Yakuza 3 and 4, but there was so much into them. The games were fun, the characters were great, the visuals were nice, there was so much to do, and even with the game being around the Japanese mafia, they still found ways to squeeze in cute elements to the game (cat at the karaoke, the orphans/Haruka, etc)... Such a great series. As for Valkyria, only thing I was upset about was it went portable after all that.

Namco Bandai - Mainly, they have alot of games, though, mostly, they have them developed through their branches. Gundam 0081, fantastic, fun, amazing..... Katamari Tribute.... same, never played a full Katamari game since Damacy, so it was refreshing. Tales of Graces F was nice. Eternal Sonata was nice as well, though the freedom sucked. They also seem to be pushing out anime games alot more lately. Still fingers crossed on a Sailor Moon RPG in the future, but totally doubt it.

Media Molecule - Sure, they only really have Little Big Planet games, but I enjoyed how much I could do with those games. They seriously put alot of work into them, and I was able to enjoy both those games and make some really nice stuff. I loved letting loose my creative side in those games. I just really wish the thermometer and the the "yield sign" issues weren't there, so I could make a BIG proper level like I want to.

Lastly, I don't know. Most of the rest of my really enjoyed games were one and one game only by a developer. 3D Dot Game Heroes was Silicon Studios.... Catherine was Atlus.... White Knight Chronicles was Level 5 (I count 1 and 2 as one game)..... and I am not judging this one on one game alone.

Cave - Some great shmups!

Treasure - It's cheating, but they made Sin & Punishment 2, and that's IMO one of the best games this year.

From Software - Two Armored Core games and both D Souls games. Not a huge fan of the former, but I am too big a fan of From, plus the D Souls games are awesome.

Platinum Games - Really love these guys, for style and gameplay. Madworld, Bayonetta, and Vanquish are all good-great, with Bayonetta being the most technical action game I've ever played.

The Tales Studios - DotNW wasn't great, Vesperia was good, Graces f/Xillia are games I'm looking forward to, plus I'm sure they've plenty of remakes on handhelds since last I checked.

I was kind of particular, I feel better that way than just saying Sega/Namco/Nintendo/Konami like I was going to initially...Though all those publisher/developer groups deserve huge props as well.

1. Naughty Dog - Loved every Uncharted game and I'm very excited for the Last of Us.

2. Bethesda - Even though they have major issues with bugs and stuff but they have made my favorite game this generation, Fallout 3, and I've enjoyed Skyrim a lot. Even though Fallout: NV and Dishonored are being made by Bethesda they still publish them.

3. Valve - Portal 2, Team Fortress 2 for free, Steam is the best video game market ever.

4. R* - Enjoyed GTA IV and the episodes but they were still dissapointing but Red Dead made up for it. GTA V seems to be looking good and I'm excited for it.

5. Square-Enix/Edios - FFXIII sucks blah blah blah FFXIV sucks blah blah, I love Square's handheld games and I really do like Edios stuff.

Honorable mentions: Rocksteady, Ubisoft, Quantic Dreams, and Nintendo

1. Naughty Dog
Creators of the amazing Uncharted series. These games mixed cinematic and gameplay like no other games before. Great storytelling and an amazing cast of characters (remember how you felt when Sully "died", few developpers can do that). Amazing graphics and sound design.

2. Bioware
Creators of Mass Effect. They attempted something that has never been done before: a story that changes depending on the choices made by the player across 3 games. Mass Effect 3 is one of the best games ever made IMO. Sure the ending was pretty bad but the road to that ending was amazing (honestly I still can't believe the same people who wrote the ending also wrote what led to it).

3. Rocksteady
They not only made excellent superhero games, they made excellent games period. These games actually made you feel like Batman.

4.Rockstar

5.Nintendo EAD

Same as yours, but I would swap out Nintendo for Dice (for bad company 1+2 and bf3) or Gearbox (for borderlands). Can't decide which. Also I would move rockstar to number 2, and Bioware to number 4.
very good taste, op

No hate on Nintendo from me, I just haven't played very many Nintendo games. I do have a wii but it didn't hold my attention for very long.
