Also, the Wii won. Doesn't matter what anyone thinks. If the other 2 were better, they wouldn't be pushing their motion controls now would they? I prefer the Wii because it doesn't have DLC nor trophies and I prefer single player games.
Your argument is invalid. That's like saying the PS1 beat the N64 just because Nintendo changed to discs from cartridges in the next generation. And everyone knows N64 was more fun than PS1.
There's a difference, the discs were obviously better than the cartridges, and it's not like Sony invented discs. PCs were using discs way before PS1. The Wii made motion controls mainstream and it made a lot of money, so the others wanted a piece of that action. Any of them who release a tablet will want to ride on the success of the Ipad. If it's so "obvious" that optical storage is better than flash storage then why does the Vita use flash storage? And gyrometers have been around much longer than the Wii as well. --- i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz | Gigabyte Windforce 3x GTX 680 OC | 12gb PNY XLR8 DDR3 1600mhz CAS-7 | OCZ Vertex 3 120gb LeagueCraft ARAM Admin / Blacklist Administrator |
Fat_Dog_MendozaPosted 7/16/2012 11:51:26 AM | I'm a big Sony fan, always have been. The PS1 was the first game system I ever owned. I've loved everything they've made except their portable systems. However, I think they'll be in third again next gen. Sony has been going after the more "hardcore" crowd lately, which is smaller than the "casual" and "kiddie" crowd that Nintendo and MS market to. I think Sony will sell enough to make money and stay in the business, but their days of market domination are behind. --- Known elsewhere on the internet as BoringSupreez |

No I'm looking at the figures right now and its almost exactly 2million between them. And do you have any proof at least half were replaced? --- God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen! not changing this sig until we have a King - started: 30/8/2008 |
Lelouch71Posted 7/16/2012 1:19:11 PM | If they screwed up worst than they did this gen they won't be making anymore consoles. So long the PS4 is cheap enough for your average joe and have the games it won't be last. Granted that it comes out no later than 2014. All three companies can do the same thing they did this gen.
Nintendo needs the core gamers plus keep their casual. MS and Sony most certainly going to need to get a piece of casual pie while maintaining their core fanbase. Above all else they need to come out at affordable price. One thing for certain the competition will be more fierce this upcoming gen regardless of the fanboys of each system thinks.
Speaking as a regular gamer, if this gen is any indication I will probably prefer my 3DS and maybe Vita (if it picks up) over the next gen systems. So it wouldn't matter who wins or lose. --- "Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories." |

They are in 2nd place this gen.. so using "again" in your topic title is sort of misleading.
No they are last. PS3 65 million sold. XBOX 360 70 Million sold. Wii 95+ million sold. 1. Wii 2.360 3.PS3
where did you get the idea it was 2nd? Its easy to make points that suit your arguments when you quote wildly inaccurate figures. With an extra YEAR on the market, 360 is at 67 million. If 360 was taken off the shelves now and ps3 in exactly one years time, ps3 would finish roughly 3 million ahead of 360. --- God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen! not changing this sig until we have a King - started: 30/8/2008 |
rofflchopperPosted 7/16/2012 1:38:37 PM | If they are in last place again, they may not be in gaming the gen after that.... Like someone else said, they probably will be in last if they don't have something to bring in casual gamers. Nintendo has catered to them and came out on top, MS has the Kinect and it has boosted their sales, and Sony tried with the Move, but it just didn't catch on. Like the other guy said, the ''hardcore'' crowd that plays games they are releasing is much smaller this gen.
I would also argue that a lot of it has to do with their terrible game marketing. --- Dear Society, Please stop calling Justin Bieber gay. We don't want him either. Sincerely, Homosexuals. |
