This gen has been far more consistent, especially for those of us with western tastes. People need to take their nostalgia goggles off, past generations were full of droughts. I remember going to the rental store on the weekend, hoping I didn't grab a dud.

Past gens had great classics though, that's for sure.

While I have a lot of fond memories of Generation 2/3 not just for gaming but from many things I enjoyed as a kid growing up back then I prefer current generation games.

I'm enjoying games now more than I ever have in the last 32 years of regular gaming from coin-op arcades all the way to now.

All the generations starting with when the NES came out have been my favorite…

I voted 5th though, since I grew up with those systems.

Sixth gen. Graphics were getting pretty good but the dlc whoring didn't start yet so we still had in game unlockables. Also Nintendo hadn't touched motion control yet and were making the best games ever

I'm not even a Gen 7 hater, but that's mostly because a lot of companies today like to play it safe when making games (just look at Call of Duty). Back in the day, companies used to take risk in making games and that resulted in some pretty revolutionary games. Sure, we had a lot of duds, but so has then gen. PS3, 360, and Wii has a lot of good games, but not a lot of innovative, stand-out titles. SNES had all-time classics like Chrono Trigger, Super Metriod, A Link to the Past, Megaman X, Super Mario RPG, and Final Fantasy VI. PS1 had all-time classics like Final Fantasy VII, Xenogears, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Castlevania: Symphonia of the Night, and Tekken 3. Those games are still talked about today. Sure, PS3 has good games, but how many will be remembered 10-15 years from now?

7th gen because i'm not blinded by nostalgia

It's got nothing to do with nostalgia. Game companies took big risk back in the day before video games went mainstream. That's why many games released back then stand out even today. People don't just like those games because they grew up with them. They were and still are good games.
