Masterchief uses the power of energy shields and plasma rifles.
Marcus, uses the power of chainsaws
Drake uses the power of acrobatics
Kratos is just an actually tough guy
Shooter guy uses the power of automatic weapons and kill streaks

i dont think you can compare shooters and action games since japanese shooters and action games dont have them either..

I've never actually seen a game do this outside of Kingdom Hearts.

Persona series
Final Fantasy 4 & 6
Most of Tales of - series
Breath of Fire 2

And probably many more which I can't think of at the moment.

How about every single Tales game ever.

western games have storylines?

pretty sure the people that play them are low brow COD fans who just like to shoot each other.

I'd rather have a simple story than a crap one like most JRPG's.

It's just not relatable to western RPG fans that have no real friends.

This. For little kids it's all about being cool.
Hope/love/friendship isn't cool.

Is there a competition for worst post of the decade going on? Because I'd hate to miss that.

Nah, Western games use the power of pretty graphics. All most need to get their million+ or so sales.
