Ill fix it for him

"I don't think anyone except you considers Monster Hunter a JRPG"

Well, no one should anyway, because it's an Action RPG, not a Console-style RPG.

exactly

If Demon's/Dark Souls aren't considered JRPGS, there's no way in hell MH/DD can be considered one.

Why don't you consider the Souls games aJRPGs?

They are Action RPGs, like I said, but they are in no way Console-style RPGs, what makes you think they would be?

So what you're saying is that games have to be console-style RPGs to be classified as JRPGs? I must respectfully disagree. I always thought JRPGs are simply RPGs that originate in Japan, which Monster Hunter did.

That's not what JRPG means.

Japanese Role Playing Game. Yes that is what it means.

That is not the Definition of JRPG though, for a community board, you can't just use your personal definition when the real definition conflicts with it.

JRPGs don't need to be even made in Japan. JRPG and Console-style RPG are synonymous. Just like WRPG and Pc-style RPG are synonymous. WRPGs can be made in Japan also.

You seem confused on what the topic at hand is about.

This topic is about JRPGs, I'm asking you why you think those games are JRPGs.

I already explained, they don't have the Elements required to be a JRPG, but they are Action RPGs.

So, in your opinion, that's what's required for them to be JRPGs. I think you're incorrect.

What makes a Role Playing Game:
The ability to choose how you want to play

Demon/Dark Souls allow you to do this (I can't speak for Dragon's Dogma). You can't change the definition of a Role Playing Game, a definition that has been around since D&D.

Definitely Disgaea 4. Best JRPG i've played in ages.

Rounding out the the next order of the list would probably be Tales of Vesperia, Disgaea 3, Eternal Sonata, Valkyria Chronicles, Last Story, FFXIII. I haven't played Xenoblade yet, though it's sitting there on the shelf. But I certainly liked each of the above games.

Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2.

Seriously. When the game's characters aren't being silly, they actually allude to some interesting stuff about gaming, like talking about a one-console future (the games dark ending) and how gaming brings people together (the LAN party scene). Plus some of the attacks look amazing (Force Formation and Apocalypse Nova, in particular, looks awesome)

agreed, though I actually like the silly parts. I was a fan of Violet Schwestern (Neptune and Nepgear's coupling attacking)

Don't get me wrong, I like the silly parts too, I was just trying to make a point that the game can be serious on occasion. I liked Violet Schwestern too, but I can't use it when my grandpa's home, he'd think I was weird.

Not changing this until Capcom either gets their act together or the company goes under (Dragon's Dogma was a good start.)
