This was one of my absolute favorites from when I was a young adult:
It was my first time seeing Sonic in full 3D and it was AWESOME. I didn't even know why there was a giant lizard thing, I just got pumped at the concept of being able to fight something that huge toward the end of the game!
Not an intro, but Mystical Ninja had one of the best song intermissions in a video game at its point, lmao:
I remember passing that game out to all of my friends in highschool and one day when our instructor for english walked out of the room, she entered again to an extremely loud, "IMPACTOOOOOOOO" from 6 boisterous males at once.
FFVIII also had one of my favorites for this particular part of it alone:
... I also liked the one for Digimon World, since it not only connected the toy to the game universe, but also showed a version of my favorite Digimon (at that point) fighting against a metal ball thing.
Sony bought Konami and will release a DDR game for the Nintendo DS. In this game, you set your DS on the floor and stomp on it till it no longer functions.

Dynasty Warriors 4 will always have one of the best openings for a video game. Hell all the Dynasty Warrior games(Except DW1) have awesome openings but DW4 takes the cake.
Thanks for posting this; I couldn't believe this topic got as far as it did without someone mentioning one of Koei's Warriors games. (Virtually any of them, too, even the spin offs, they're almost all great)
