There are very few JRPGs that I like, so I haven't given Resonance of Fate a shot. I'm tempted to though, because it looks like a good game.
My favorite RPG of the generation would be Mass Effect 3 though.
Well Resonance of Fate is better than Mass Effect because the gameplay is more challenging and not a cakewalk, you can control all members of your party, the characters have more personality and humor, less talking, more action (not a conversation simulator that results in....nothing), it relies more on strategy instead of just run and gun pew pew and it wasn't inundated with a controversial ending that pissed fans off as well as shady DLC practices...
1. Does RPG gunplay right (Not standing around shucking and jiving likea 70's Disco idiot (hello FF XIII Sahz); not just saying "ah **** it it, lets just make a standard TPS/FPS and pretend to call it an RPG (hello Borderlands, Deus EX, Alpha Protocol, Mass Effect, Fallout). 2. Can use all members of the party instead of just one (unlike Mass Effect) 3.Can alter main characters outfits without resorting to DLC (hello Tales,FF XIII-2) 4. Likeable characters with humor thrown in 5. Challenging gameplay (once you figure out the battle system)
Here's the things it does not so well:
1.Story takes a bit too long to take off (stays in "slice of life: mode a bit too long which throws some people off) 2.Upgrading weapons take too long 3.Steep learning curve throws some people off 4.Sometimes the difficulty can be unforgiving 5. I would have liked the cities to be bigger and more explorable in standard third person camera instead of side scrolling...
So much truth.
