Why am I updating to 4.31 on November 14th? The system was fine yesterday.

Is this going to cause a problem with my system? I just turned my system on and it wasn't logging me in to PSN so I went to check for a firmware update and it said 4.31 was available.

It didn't say what it was for.

4.31 is an optional update and has been available since last month.

It's a fix for Monster Hunter. If you don't own the game, ignore it.

And you won't own the game unless you imported or live in Japan lol. Even then you most likely have the PSP version so......

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD for the PS3(a JPN title only, but the series is often imported to the US) had a bug that would freeze the game when trying to start a crucial mission in multiplayer. The bug was caused by the 4.30 update.

Yeah, but it seems like it was forcing me to update since it wouldn't log me into PSN when I turned my system on. I always have automatic sign-in.

This happens to me anytime there's an update. I didn't think this was news to anyone...
