Congrats to Sony! However apparently Xbox 360 is already winning the Holiday season battle at least in North America. Outselling both the 3DS and PS3. We'll have to see how the Wii U does when it launches. Its truly impressive that Sony caught them despite being a year younger.

Sony will never beat the 360 in NA, because murricans only want to be patriotic and buy ''superior'' murrican products... that were made in China.

70m? Cool... now at least cut that in half because of YLOD, BD drive failure, etc because each person buys 2 ps3 :D

We have to cut the 360 sales as well then, by about 90%.

It'll be really interesting to see if PS3 out sells Xbox 360.

Yeah sounds great.

Until you realize the PS2 sold over 150 million units..

At a lower entry price point and better economy... Sure. not to mention the system didn't basically require you to buy a brand new tv to enjoy it to its full potential -- but yeah, sure, whatever you say, bro. Ps3's sales are weak! Down with Ps3's 70 million sold consoles and up with the xbox 360's, over 1 year head start, 70 million sold consoles!!!!!!!

You just told us how Sony screwed the consumer lol. Who cares how many units were sold because in some ways the PS3 was a failure. Of course pricing and the economy wasn't just the issue. You had the DRM content, Sony banning their customers from accessing PSN if their console is modded, plus DLC conent that publishers put on their video game. Gaming this generation has fallen somewhat compared to the previous generation.

I mean, it's not like the PS2 sold 100 million in the first five years of its life.

Wait...

ps3 doesnt have to win anything anymore. for a 3rd place console that was branded as "good as dead", it sold really well.
