Yeah sounds great.

Until you realize the PS2 sold over 150 million units..

Do you know any of any console that came close to the PS2 level?

20 years? you must be joking, or had a typo issue

it was just exaggeration to prove my point.

Are you serious? You can't exaggerate 12 years to 20 years, no matter how screwed in the brain you are. Just admit it, you made a mistake.

PS1 sales = 103 Million sales.
NES + SNES sales = 111 Million sales. (NES = 62 Million, SNES = 49 Million)

Nowhere near close to PS1.

Well, this decisively shows the PS3 is not the miserable failure some try and make it to be.

Its basically neck and neck with 360, and has been in the market for one year less at that. Given another years worth of sales (and subtract all those 360 re-buys for the red ring of death) and then I'd love to see the comparison.

3) Nintendo - Wii (2006) = 97.18 million
4) Sony - PlayStation 3 (2006) = 70.2 million
5) Microsoft - Xbox 360 (2005) = 70.0 million
6) Nintendo - NES (1983) = 61.91 million
7) Nintendo - SNES (1990) = 49.10 million
8) Sega - Mega Drive (1988) = 40 million
9) Nintendo - Nintendo 64 (1996) = 32.93 million
10) Atari - Atari 2600 (1977) = 30 million

As you can see, SONY owns 1st place in Home consoles throughout the ages (and 2nd place in Handhelds), and Nintendo owns 1st place in Handheld consoles throughout the ages (and 2nd place in Home consoles), with both giving some serious competition to each other in their respective 2nd place area (SONY with their handhelds and Nintendo with their Home consoles), while both having some serious inconsistent competition from other different companies across the ages (mainly #3, #4 and #5, SEGA, Microsoft and Atari, respectively).

Still, it's absolutely shocking to see the totally underated PSP (awesome library), being the 6th best selling console (either Home or Handheld) of all time.
Justice right there.

(It's listed as 7th, but the sales for Game Boy and Game Boy Color are combined. Alone they have less sales than PSP).

70 million is still below the psx and ps2. It might reach 80 mill with the next 4 years. The ps3 really was the first anti-consumer console made by Sony with all the drm, the autoupdates, and all the crap Sony does to control the users console, something that did not exist in previous playstations. That's why in some ways it was a failure, not to mention it was much more expensive (you had to buy an HDTV to enjoy it's full experience). But I guess the bad economy also had to do with the ps3 not selling at well first. It only sold well because of the brand name.

The PSP was a fantastic handheld though with customized homebrew. It was also much easier to pirate/hack compared to the PS3 which it made more lucrative.

LOL!

1) In 4 years PS3 will be sitting over 100 million sales as it averages on 11 million a year.
It will be around PS1 numbers.

2) Anti-consumer? Free internet. Option for multiple Region PSN accounts. But most important feature that sets it apart every other Home console of all time, Region Free.
Get it memorised. PS3 is by far the least Anti-consumer Home console of all time.

3) Ya don't say? You had to buy a TV? Blasphemy.
I remember when I had to buy a Color TV to enjoy NES's full potential.
Bad console.

Also, despite price, stupid economy, huge competition compared to every other generation, 12 less months in market in US+Japan / 16 less months in market in Europe+Australia (all these translate to around 9-10 million sales), and media propaganda, PS3 still will surpass in sales its competitor and PS1.
That's highly impressive.

And lol at piracy being considered as a factor.
PSP was awesome for its great games (still is, awesome games still releasing), and PS3 is too.
In fact, the japanese 60 GB PS3 console is probably the best console of all time library-wise.
