The ending to Mother 3 was the only game that brought tears to my eyes.
Looking back at the game, it was pretty frigging depressing.

I'm surprised more people aren't saying this.
Nier & Drakengard, and Drakengard 2
Yeah, this. Nier is seriously... even the sidequests make you depressed. --- "Somedays, you just can't get rid of a bomb." - Batman PSN: Quadratical

You may cry with MGS3, but it's not depressing at all
Catherine can be very depressing if you really get into the story

Dishonored is pretty depressing. The story goes from bad to worse to downright atrocious (3 difference endings depending on how much depression you want) --- What is faith then but persistent hope in the face of relentless doubt. My copy is the Sanish version but the entire game is in English. --- To be born Welsh is not to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth, But with a song in your heart and poetry in your soul. <3

Can't believe no ones mentioned Persona 3. I was pretty young when I played it, and I had to stop playing it for a while at times. The themes affected me pretty bad. It made me have my first existential crisis. :P --- We drown in pneumonia, not rivers and streams.
