Any platform, any rating, and any publisher.

For me: Sonic Generations.

Yeah, I think I'll stick to this generation as well.

As far as pure fun goes, I think it's gotta go to Super Meat Boy.
If we're speaking of otherness, atmosphere, etc., Limbo probably takes it.
Rayman: Origins is a pretty solid blend of being both fun and charming/graphically appealing/etc.

Might be some stuff I'm forgetting.

Limbo is more puzzle and less platformer.

This gen:
Rayman Origins (one of my favorite games of all time)
Trine franchise (beautiful 2.5D visuals with so much depth that they're more like 2.8D)
LittleBigPlanet franchise (best new IP this gen)

There's also an insanely amazing game on Steam called Fly'N. It's getting its fair share of comparisons to Rayman Origins for good reason. It's visually stunning, whimsical, and has unique mechanics with quite a bit of depth. Its pacing and difficulty curve make for some excellent platforming and puzzle solving. Super Meat Boy was great, but Fly'N is now the king of my Steam library.

Seriously, check out the trailers: http://store.steampowered.com/app/223730/
Still on the fence; read my review: http://gamingirresponsibly.com/review-flyn-pc-the-reason-steam-greenlight-was-created

Plus, right now it's on sale for $6.69! If you're a fan of whimsical 2D platformers, you must play it.

I'm also extremely hyped for Puppeteer. Can't wait to find out when I can get my hands on it.
