I just read that there's no shops or inns in the FFXIII games? wtf is this travesty
Well, technically there are "shops". It's just that there are no towns, so to access the shops you go to a save point and select things from a menu rather than physically navigating a town and entering the store or what have you. Terrible, I know. .
Not that it was useful anyway, besides getting materials for the stupid, shallow, annoying weapon upgrade system.
That sounds terrible. Thanks for the answers though guys, looks like I'll be avoiding the PS3 releases. I really just want a next-gen RPG in the style of the classics. Everything is so casual now.
Get an Xbox 360 and get Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey
Nothing quite compares to 9, but you might enjoy specific challenges. 12 has NLBLLG and 13 has NCU. Good fun but it'll burn you out. For instance I couldn't even pay attention thru the 13-2 demo after my NCU of 13.
Plot, aesthetics, characters, development, and stat systems leave much to be desired in the newer games though. Mechanics ever so slightly better.
