Im fine as long their unique,in fact i think its a good thing
my grammar sucks and i dont care

I think it definitely depends on the game. Open world games they are fun so long as they aren't just simple tedious fetch quests. In semi-linear games like Deus Ex and Dishonored, they work really so long as they tie into the story and are worthwhile, which both of the games I mentioned do really well.

Basically, they are cool so long as they are done right and not tacked on.
