C'mon... A lot of those sales were under warranty and those cannot be counted as "sales"... I am a sophisticated, savvy gamer -- A true sophistocrat. Let's be fair and be honest. Let us not sink to iniquitous tactics.

so where's the source for your black friday sales numbers?

...Black Friday is a mostly American holiday.

The only reason Sony sales are even near 360 sales is cause of Asia/Europe.

Those are NOT US sales numbers obviously. The 360 is well ahead of the PS3 in sales in the US.

That being said...why would you even need a source to know that the 360 is beating out the PS3 in the US?

Why do some people act as though the 360 is a failure? From last gen the PS2 sold 153.6 million while the Xbox sold 24 million. This gen the 360 and PS3 are tied. Almost tripling sales from the original Xbox is not failure.

It is mildly interesting that this level of dumbassery still persists on both sides after so many years.

I hate that there are posts that actually try to discuss it at face value. Everyone can see them. But both sides need to come in and take stabs at each other regardless.

That's why these topics always last so long.

playstation brand doesnt even reach half of the sales of the ps2 (153.4 mil->70.2 mil)
xbox brand almost triples sales compared to original xbox (24 mil->70.8 mil)

looks like sony is headed in the right direction

This topic is all wrong. PS3 has not sold as many consoles as Xbox 360. PS3 just hit 70 million this month (http://www.gamespot.com/news/playstation-3-sells-70-million-units-worldwide-6400177) so it can't have hit 70 million in September too. And if Xbox sold 70 million consoles by Oct 19th (http://www.gamespot.com/news/70-million-xbox-360s-sold-6398561) and sold 0 consoles until Black Friday, then sold 750,000 consoles that weekend (http://www.gamespot.com/news/xbox-360-sells-750000-during-black-friday-week-6400656) then that puts Xbox currently at 70.75 million. The numbers are there, the dates are there, the sources are there. TC provided nothing.

The proof will require a little work on your end to understand, but the TC is completely correct.

Per Sony's quarterly reports located at http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdata_ces_sale_e.html
Sony has sold 70.2 Million units as of the end of Quarter 2 of Fiscal 2012, which ended on 9/30/12.

Per Microsoft's quarterly reports, located at http://www.microsoft.com/investor/EarningsAndFinancials/Earnings/Kpi/FY13/Q1/Detail.aspx
Their Lifetime to Date Xbox 360 sales are 70.0 million units as of the end of Quarter 1 of Fiscal 2013, which also ended on 9/30/12.

So, per their Financial Reporting, Sony has sold more PS3 than Microsoft has sold XBox360s.

Hopefully the companies themselves are a credible enough source for you...

Because it was a malfunctioning piece of crap for the first few years, and the reason sales tripled is because stupid people bought 3 or more.

HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THIS?
