reality check, PS3 gamers. Sony earns about $40,000 for PS3 game patches.

Yea, it's not cheap, so I think people should be thankful everytime a PS3 game is patched, since all of that money is coming out of your publisher and $40,000 is nothing compared to Sony's debt.

I thought it was M$ that charged $40k? Sony is slightly less money hungry than them so maybe they'd charge less.

Someone made this exact same thread on the 360 board as well. I'm not sure what the point of these threads are. To get us as consumers to not ask for problems in the game we spent our money on to be fixed? Because that will never happen. If these companies didn't release buggy games they wouldn't have to worry about being charged $40,000 to patch them now would they?

40k for what kind of file size we talking?

Let's just go with 50mb and say 300k games needed the patch. That's 14 terabytes. 40K That's what, 3 dollars a gig? Which is about the cost of a movie rental, which is also about the file size of a movie rental.

That's, that file size and that many sales though. Each situation would vary. Bigger file size, or more patches downloaded. Imagine a game like black ops, where millions may download that patch.

Sounds like money isn't really being earned here.

You really have no clue what your talking about, do you?

They might charge $40000 for a patch, but that doesn't mean it's all profit.
