POLL: Do you want swearing in video games?

#91MagicManGregPosted 11/30/2012 9:31:27 AM
Yeah I guess.

But not like Bulletstorm. Was cringey to listen to.

"Get over here you ass-mouth pissface" or words to that effect.

No, but I do want rampant nudity so it all balances out.
I have hesitated as to whether I should say anything or nothing, but, as it is the fashion to say something, I suppose I must comply.

I voted no since in most games it's either uneccessary or it just seems forced. That said I don't mind it at all if it feels natural like in The Walking Dead. Not too many games execute those lines as gracefully though.
Awesome games I've never finished: Vampire:
The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Black Sigil, 999 (True ending), Nier (all endings besides A)

I don't mind it as long as it's not out of place, but I feel absolutely no need for it at all.

I did actually enjoy it in the new DmC demo boss battle, though.

If its used in the right situation by characters that you would expect it from that's fine. GTA characters are going to swear and it makes sense for them to, If the next Mario game came out and all of a sudden Mario was swearing every time he jumped or was hit by a Goomba, then that would be stupid and unnecessary.

Yes, because people swear all the time. It makes the game a lot more realistic.

As long as it's natural and fits the atmosphere of the game.

Like, if no one swore in GTA or Catherine, that would be really awkward.

But I think unless it is necessary to use obscenities in dialogue to portray a character or society or whatever, it shouldn't really be used.

I find a lot of people actually act like using language makes you more mature, not that it makes you immature, but one must always consider that not everyone wants to hear it.

Oh, and I think we can all agree that Shadow the Hedgehog is an example of swearing done very, very wrong.
Still waiting for Diddy Kong Racing 2

I don't care either way as long as it's not overused.
