If nothing else, 2012 = year of redemption

The gaming media finally finding the courage to pan a big budget title from a big publisher in Resident Evil 6. Also the game selling but 800k units in the US while RE5 did 1.5 million (drop off of 48%).

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 sales down 15% from last year and actually prompting some analysts to question whether it is on a legit decline.

MoH WarFighter derivative, buggy mess getting panned critically and selling but 300k units in the US.

Sizable portions of gamers sure responded in kind to publishers trying to sell them crap!

speaking of buggy messes lets talk about XCOM....I love the game but man does it have a number of bugs and glitches, some pretty bad ones at that....so why are certain complaints never applied to many well liked games around here? Why only bring up these complaints with certain games aorund here and praise others that share similar complaints?

I like how many apply certain issues with some games to trash or put them down yet ceompletely avoid these exact issues with other games....gotta love how GF functions...

Gaming sales OVERALL are down. Specifically, console games overall are on a downwards trend in total sales, not just CoD/RE etc. I don't see how its a year of redemption.

CoD Bo2 and RE6 are still going to end up becoming the most sold titles in their franchises.

Just because people are noticing flaws in games doesn't mean redemption.
Redemption would be better games with fewer flaws.

Gaming sales were down 2% last year too and that's with the several huge titles launching (Skyrim, AC, MW3, Uncharted, etc), BUT that didn't stop MW3 from smashing all sorts of entertainment records (775 million in first 5 days, 650 for BO).

Time to face it there is most likely something else going on here besides market trends.

PS it will be tough for RE6 and BO2 to be the best selling in light of the sales figures we already know/was posted here.
