Anybody else rather disturbed by the lack of adults in upcoming Japan games?

( First want to state that I have no problem with some cliches and I don't mind that Japan is obsessed with Anime art style. As a matter of fact I'm thinking of giving up gaming seeing as I'm not really into western games and Japan doesn't give a damn about older gamers.)

It's already bad enough 99% of modern 2012 anime is dominated by 13-15 years old feminine guys and hyper sexualized loli girls saving the world. Besides Yakuza I'd say again about 90% of their upcoming video games are underaged kids. Does Japan not even give a damn about gamers over 18 or in their 20s? Compared to back in my PSX Jrpg craze I now have not one Japanese game that interests me.

Btw When I say feminine looking I mean FEMININE looking. There is a difference between looking handsome, looking like a pretty boy and Looking like a feminine-female. Japan is really pushing male leads to look feminine-female instead of pretty-boy.

My question is this: Is modern day entertainment such as Anime, movies and video games in Japan even for adults?

It's not just their age though that is certainly an issue.

It's also just a lack of realistic grittiness. Everybody looks way too clean in Japanese games and they all dress like runway models. I just can't take it seriously.

How old were you in the PSX days?

Polite conversation should never include Politics, Religion or what constitutes an RPG.
Playing a game for it's story is like watching porn for it's story.

Jesus, is this all this board rambles on about? No wonder people look down on gamers.

GameFAQs is the toilet of the Internet. The users do not represent the majority of consumers, gamers(hardcore or casual), or human beings in general.

Solution:

Don't like it, don't play it.

It's like when a bunch of old people sit around and talk about "the good old days, when gas cost 25 cents a gallon, and you could trust the news to give you news, and not glorified opinions! And those damn kids with their loud music!" except with video games. And not-old people. And stuff that's pining for the equivalent of "yesterday."

It's actually kinda sad if you think about it. Like a 21-year-old saying he wishes he was 19 again, because "things were so much better back then!"

Do you really need to be a similar age or share a fashion sense to relate to a character?

No, but there is only so much suspension of disbelief I can handle. A teenager with a giant pizza cutter sword wearing an outfit with five dozen buckles with balloon pants for instance is too much for me to handle.

See for yourself.
