Do you force your PS3 into 720p for most games, since most are made at this resolution?

Not really forcing it as it is the default boot up resolution on most disc based games.

No, I let the games choose between 720p or 1080p.

well on my tv it forces 1080p on every game... so should I stick to 720p, or leave it at 1080p? I can only name a handful of games that are native 1080

I leave it at default, less hassle like this and less chance to kill my tv i guess?

keep it at 1080p. most games go down to 720p automatically. the ones that stay at 1080p usually look better at 1080p

leave it at 1080p. the tv scales everything to 1080p anyways

My TV automatically uses 720p for most games (Tales of Graces, Demon Souls). Very few (Final Fantasy XIII) display at 1080p. And I guess the menu is 1080p.

I only know this because it tells me when the resolution changes. Still a step up from the 480p I was using less than a month ago. The widescreen alone is awesome.

I don't know why it would do that unless 720p was disabled and it forced the PS3 to upscale.

Certainly odd behaviour that I haven't seen before.

Anyway if it is outputting 1080p on all disc based games that support it then it would come down to which scales better. The PS3 or your display. In most cases, even on cheap tvs they tend to scale better than the PS3 software scaling but isn't a definite.

See which one does a better job and go with it. The majority of the time it would be the tv, in which case you would benefit from disabling the PS3 from 1080p outfit with the rare exception of actual 1080p native games.
