So I'm replaying the Uncharted series

Haven't played 3 yet, and I haven't played any of them since 2 came out. All I can say is wow, this game is mediocre. I remember being blown away the first time I played them, and no I'm just completely underwhelmed. From Drakes stumpy arms and legs, to the sub average gunplay, and the generic platforming. What did I see in this game? I'm not hating on it but I just find it odd how great this game seemed just a few years ago, and now I'm finding that I have to force my way through it.

I'm not hating on it as I said, I'm just surprised at how poorly it has aged.

the video game industry killed off happy non-jaded gamers, with all the sucky shooters and extinction of turn based JRPGs and good Japanese games.

I was never a fan of that game to begin with.

I never thought it was anything special either. It's good and perhaps better then most other action/adventure platformers but the game can feel so drawn out and boring sometimes. The shootout sequences are tedious and after a while become VERY repetitive and not fun. Overall, it's OK though.

After playing Uncharted 2, I went back and replayed Uncharted. God it was mediocre. Uncharted 2 is an 11/10 game, but Uncharted I'd struggle to give a 7/10.

Naughty Dog pulled a fast one on you(and me) with the cinematic presentation. I replayed Uncharted 2 a couple of months ago I noticed the lame platforming and the barely ok shooting. I thought the game was amazing when I first played it, but now it's I see it as game that was hyped more for following conventions that Americans like in their action movies instead of its actual gameplay. I was replaying up until the chapter where you're at the mountains before deciding that enough was enough, and went back to playing Tomb Raider Anniversary.

it has always been mediocre, i've been saying 5 years after this gen has ended all most of the games this gen will be forgotten... (i said this like a year or 2 ago)

the first time playing it might feel like its the greatest games ever but once you've seen all the qtes its basically just a pretty game with mediocre mechanics

Tedious is the word to describe the shooting sequences indeed. Headshots arent always headshots, and enemies tend to be bullet sponges. And they throw a few too many enemies at you(I don't mean that its overwhelming, more that it just drags on). If they tightened up the shooting segments the game would be far more enjoyable.
