Y kno Dragon Quest PS3? Dragon Quest is NOT on PS3, whut?

I played through 8 until the boss. Never defeated the boss though, and I do not believe I have the save file anymore.

Started DQ9 NDS just now, like 10 minutes ago, with my character named Crono and looks just like Crono.

Seems at least decent so far. Can't really decide yet. Battle system is good, aside from the first person view in battles.

Anyhoo, Dragon Quest seems like it would be the perfect JRPG to have on PlayStation, yet it's not on PlayStation?

Probably because they think that a "Cartoony" PS3 RPG wouldn't sell very well.

...and by "Very Well", I mean, 6 Million Units, because SE is crazy like that.

They don't think PS3 gamers want "Cartoony", they feel they want "Ultra realistic" graphics. They're probably right too.

Saying something has "Charm" is just a cute way of saying it's lighthearted and kiddy.

Enix always goes to the console they feel is selling the most.
NES & SNES were the dominating consoles of their era so thats why DQ I through VI were on them
PS1 & PS2 were dominating in their era so thats why we got DQ VII & VIII.
NDS was the top selling console (handheld) so thats why it got DQ IX
Wii was the console winner this gen so thats why they put DQ X on it and since Wii U is similar and the newest system, they anticipate similar success for that console so they ported DQ X to it since a port doesn't cost much anyway.

That's weird that they would be on a system where RPGs go to die (Xborx). Well, good thing I have every new Nintendo system.

Yeah, I think you're probably right and spot on. PS3 is full of shooter casual gamers who think that graphics make a game.

Most people who played DQ as a kid are now businessmen/women who have no tiem to play on the PS3, but who do comute a long way and who own a DS/3DS.
Also kids who are getting into DQ would not own a PS3 either, therefore they can make cheaper DQ games for the 3DS and they would still make a lot of money.

I think they'd appreciate a "Cartoony" game, if it was done with blood, gore, intensity, and seriously dark themes.

Which...DQ games really aren't known to have. They're more of the "Lighthearted" saturday morning kids cartoon variety.
