Seriously people, get educated, DSouls is not a JRPG

depends on your definition. When I played Demon's souls it didn't remind me of a WRPG. It sure as hell wasn't a dead open world. It wasn't so easy that I didn't have to think much. It was made by a Japanese developer. It was also made with many Japanese themes involved. Sure it doesn't completely remind me of a JRPG either. It was dark, It didn't really have a strong main story(though great background with the items and such).

Perhaps the problem is not that either side isn't educated enough but more so that our definition of WRPG or JRPG doesn't cover it in full and that it borrows elements from both.

Okay, I am confused with some of the statements here- how is Demon's/ Dark Souls not considered a Japanese Role Playing Game?

They arent, those fit under the WRPG style. Country of origin is irrelevent, unless you are racist of course.

It seems like WRPG means two things now.
A RPG made in the west, and a good JRPG.

Funny how the only good JRPGs are actually WRPGs.

Like Dark Souls and Dragons Dogma.

Fail,

Ys is good and it certainly is a JRPG.

Pier Solar is good and it is a JRPG, but it wasnt created in Japan nor by japanese.

Dragons Dogma certainly isnt very good, but sadly it is an WRPG nonetheless.
