Some of you are real hypocrites....
You cry foul any time a very small group of people dislike some Japanese game, but don't care that the vast majority of Japanese gamers hate Western games.

A few people here hates a Japanese game and you get offended, but the Japanese culture being hateful of Western made games is somehow okay to you.

Exactly. A few people don't like JRPGs on gamefaqs, and that ostensibly translates to "zomg so many racist japan hateing xenophobez". It does indeed swing both ways, and Japanese gamers are far more intolerant of Western games - going back to the '80s & '90s. PC gaming took off in a huge way in the west, and that's where all the best games were, whereas Japan always favoured home consoles, where the worst western games were shovelled onto. Somehow that perception has managed to stick even now.

"As Japanese gamers lost interest in console games, production dipped. At the same time, market forces prompted western PC heavy hitting developers to change their focus to consoles. Suddenly the console market was dominated by the west, and Japanese audiences have never liked western games. There's an old Japanese gaming proverb, yo-ge kuso-ge: literally, "western games are ****."

Yeah well as you said it's a 'old' proverb. In comparison to the global popularity and domination of Japanese made games in the past as opposed to the Western ones....of course that sentiment would have been made then and then carried on over the years. But now; plenty of examples now of Western games that actually have a following in Japan.
And like I said, it's a moot point for this board anyway because Japanese gamers aren't coming here to argue.

I don't quite see what that has to do with my post. Obviously I wasn't referring to gamefaqs, but Japanese gamers in general, such as the attitude towards western games mentioned in the article I linked to.

I said it's a moot point (your argument) because who cares about that when people are talking about what people say here.
It's the comments here said by posters that frequent here (that are obviously not from Japan by majority) that effect everyone reading topics on this board.
The **** anyone here care about people over there that speak a language the majority of us here can't understand or even care to know what they are saying (which is not on this board)??

My original post was not an argument at all, but rather agreeing with someone's else point that they brought up. It just seems asinine to act as though some people voicing their dislike for certain niche JP games on here is so atrocious and "racist", while JP gamers have been utterly intolerant of all western games from the beginning.

I hate rapists and child abusers as much as anyone, but give a quick look outside the locked down confines of present day American culture and you'll discover just how overly paranoid people are about it in this country. Allot of people in the field of psychology and science have even characterized this movement as a witch hunt (which I must admit is very accurate, since witch hunts are generally a radical over reaction to a genuine problem which is exactly what's happening on the matter in this country.

In Japan, the age of consent is much lower in some parts then in the USA. Big deal. There were very few times and places throughout history where people would have thought that waiting till 18 to get married and/or become sexually active was anything short of madness. Getting married and having kids at 13 through 16 has always been much more common. Some of your grand parents probably did. Historically speaking, Japan is normal. We're the crazies.

That said, there's also a difference between having sexual intercourse with someone in their teens and raping a 5 or 6 year old. From what I have gathered, Japan; like many countries who are known for "loose" sexual restraint (other southeast Asian countries, east Europe etc.) pretty much don't care about sexual behavior until it becomes non-consensual and more to the point, against a pre-pubescent child.

In many of these countries for instance they don't seam to care about consensual sexuality with post pubescent teens or nude media (video games, movies etc.) below that bar (what we consider child porn) but if you rape or have sexual intercourse with anyone pre-pubescent in these countries, you'll wish you did it here in the USA. They tend to practice medieval cruelty against genuine child abusers. So, basically their attitude towards child abuse is based more on reason and common sense then radically flipping out over the slightest indication or whatever you think is grouse like we do over here.

Now, on to Japanese games in general, my problem is that many of the Japanese game manufacturers are throwing out everything that made them great for junk with good graphics. I couldn't care less about "violence" and "suggestive themes". Just make a good game for crying out loud.
