Your favorite open world experience?

For me it would have to be Everquest Online Adventures,, massive world with varied locations...you could even swim to distant islands in the sea, or accidentally run directly into a volcano if you're not looking. I loved the weather changes, the sunsets, everything.

GTA San Andreas is a close second, again, massive and varied worlds with tons to do. SO much to do in this game, from robbing houses at night to dogfighing jet fighters in the sky...you even get a camera for cool snapshots of random fun.

I'm also enjoying Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning, though its not really 'open world', and Red Dead Redemptiion is just amazing.

Agree TC both PS2 Everquest Online Adventures & Final Fantasy XI MMORPG was best experience of my Life.

Everquest was level 70 Enchanter, 2nd toon Magician, love pets and controling my enemiies &
FFXI was 75 Summoner/BlackMage/Beastmaster/BlueMage same reason as above but Enemy Skills Kick Ass..

As for this Gen nothing yet..................but have feeling my answer will be FFXIV lol.

New Vegas on Hardcore was fantastic - well, except for getting mobbed by those Cazador bastards.

Riding around on horseback while the sun was setting in Red Dead was great too.

Dark Age of Camelot. I still remember that land like I'd actually been there, and I haven't played it in 7 years.

Red Dead Redemption, Sleeping Dogs was pretty awesome too. Nothing else really comes to mind.
