Well... Yeah. The fact that people are saying no is kind of amazing. It's one thing to dislike a series, it's another to go so far to dismiss it.

You have to move your character around, you have to aim at least in the general direction, and you have to press the shoot button.

How is that not "skill based?"

Believe it or not, there are people out there who could not do that.

Every Call of Duty since 4 has been about as skill based as Yahtzee and significantly less enjoyable...

The game takes neither skill nor dedication to be good at. It is a combination of luck and reflexes. Heck, I do best at the game when I half forget I am even playing it. My friends and I pretty much never took Black Ops 1 seriously and we'd stumble into 6 straight hours of wins without even realizing it.

Some people have asthma. Does that mean us average people are skilled at breathing?

yes. every game involves a skill. COD is about fast reflexes and quick reaction time. along with knowledge of high traffic areas.

Of course, everyone can rea- wait, what's this "illiteracy" thing?

Just because there's a minority who can't do something, doesn't mean anyone who can do it are skilled at it. Being skilled at something means being better than the majority who can do it.

The fact that my 7 year old nephew and his friends can put in MW2 and consistently get more kills than deaths laments my belief that it doesn't take any actual skill to be good at the game. To be great (like a 5+ K/D), yes, but to be good (let alone play it), no. Then again, maybe my standards are just higher than your's and you don't follow the same belief that a game needs an moderate to steep learning curve between new players and good players for one to claim it requires skill to be played.

Ah, but the amount of skill was not in question - just "any" skill. As such, everything in the world requires any degree of skill to do.

It's not "my measurement of skill is low," it's simply "I have the ability to read and answer a question correctly." If he was asking "does it take a great amount of skill to play well," or "which takes more skill between these two," then obviously there would be many more things to consider.

Asthmatics can breathe

And breathing is part of the respiratory system, which ties into the circulatory system, in which you don't actually consciously control it and if you try to stop it, it forces it's way back into rhythm

Of course it does. This is an absurd question.

If it didn't, everyone would be on an equal playing ground (which, quite obviously, they're not)

You could argue that it has a fairly low skill ceiling, but that's another story. Of course it takes skill.

You should see my lady play CoD. Can't even aim straight, while I tear her up.

there's definitely skill involved.
