Why did you buy a Playstation 3?

It is because I had money.

Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII.

Turned out great too. All three are my least favorites in their series...

I got mine last Christmas for the exclusives. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed.

You haven't even looked then.

I bought it on release day because it was ... the next Playstation, that's all there is to it really.

Pretty much it was the successor to the PS2. I got into gaming real heavily with the PlayStation since the NES, SNES and Genesis were my older brother's systems but the PS1 was mine. The PS2 was an amazing system and even though I started out this gen. with the 360 after having an Xbox, I have almost 200 PS3 games and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It's an amazing system and I love most of Sony's exclusives. My 360 hasn't been used much and all gen. I've only kept about 30 games (all exclusives).

I was impressed by the specs, so I knew it would lead to some great looking games, but there weren't very many games at launch, so for the most part it acted like a Blu-ray player until I could get some good games.

Free online, HD graphics, and true exclusives (when the 360 and PS3 were new all the 360 "exclusives" were being made available on the pc as well, not the case anymore unfortunately).

My reasoning is, it makes less noise than my 360, has more RPG titles than the 360, has subscription-free online, came with a 350gb HDD, and I mainly wanted to play MGS4.

Considering my 360 runs silent, I need to question what you do to yours. My PS3, on the other hand, makes tons of noise since it needs to load off the disc.

Why'd I buy a PS3? I don't know really.

Nothing really, barely played it in the time I've had it which had to be around 4-5 years now. I've mostly kept it laying flat and in fairly open space with enough ventilation room, I've maybe vacuumed the vents twice a month to keep the dust from building up but never anything that would damage it.
