DO U THINK there's any connection betwene Mass Shooting today & Video games?

#31impatientpersonPosted 12/14/2012 5:18:05 PM
I do not think violent games are to blame... and it'd be stupid to claim differently with as many people that have played 'em with out going on a shooting rampage.

I do however think that our lax attitude toward violence (in movies, tv, games, military) does have a bit of push toward increasing violent behavior.

No because I'm not an idiot.

This x10000

You both did a mass shooting but it wasnt from video games?
i think hes referring to the people who actually did these things could it been from video games

Again. Mental illness. A sane, mentally healthy person does not play and go "Oh I think I want to go slice the throat of innocent children today."

What was to stop them from doing it today or doing it 20 years from now? You're grasping for straws.

People murdered each other before there was ANY form of entertainment, including books. There are not "contributing factors, you either are crazy, or have some kind of "payoff" from killing someone.

As some one who enjoys "violent" action media and has no desire to hurt anyone, I say that the only one to blame is the killer UNLESS there was someone who told them to. Which in this case seems unlikely.

U gotta keep in mind that we R biased.

We are GAMERS SO OF COURSE we gonna pretend like our preciuous games dont lead to violence.

But I think there is some TRUTH behind the thought that maybe they DOOOO

At least for a Couple CRAY CRAY people out dere

Video games aren't the problem. Mental illness is the problem.

A mentally disturbed man way out in the woods far away from any source of electricity and has never read a book, played a game, or watched a movie/tv kills a person -> He gets labeled as sick and mentally disturbed.

A mentally disturbed man plays a game and kills a person ->Video games caused him to kill.

It's nothing more than a scapegoat to avoid the more serious issue at hand. Killing has happened long before video games have existed. Video games don't cause violent tendencies. I don't think George Washington got an advance copy of Assassin's Creed 3 and decided to start a war with England after playing it.
