Maybe they choose shooters because it was the most popular and played genre in gaming right now, the one that you could easily tell if people stopped playing.

we'll be too busy avoiding falling meteors and huge tidal waves on that day to worry about playing ANYTHING anyway...

Why would you even make the connection? It'd be like not watching the Road Runner cartoons to honor the victims of falling anvils. By bringing this up they're just making video games a target for people who want to scapegoat video games so they don't have to deal with the real problems. Unless somebody was strapped down and brainwashed like A Clockwork Orange with violent videogames they're in no way responsible for this crap.

Supernatural? lol

Amazing how the same games in America which MUST kill thousands of people a year SOMEHOW aren't responsible for any shootings in UK or Japan

Its not the games, its the person

It's sad that people even need to reinforce such an obvious point. We're really living in the age of buck passing, that's for sure.

"my 10 year old son steals cars for fun, and almost died in a car crash that he caused.... he's always spending time on that Grand Theft Auto"

True words from a dumb Aussie mother, talking about her dumb Aussie kid. Saw it a few years ago on the news.

An online movement to stop playing shooting games for 24 hours on december 21st.

“We are not blaming video games. We are simply making a statement that we as Gamers are not going to sit back and ignore the lives that were lost,” organiser and GamerFitNation Inc CEO Antwand Pearman stated.

“Instead we will embrace the families with our love and support. This starts Thursday night, Friday morning at 12am and will in Friday night, Saturday morning at 12am.”

Didn't see this here. I know a lot of this board doesn't care for shooters in the first place.

Anyway, just spreading the message, this isn't really the topic to debate violent video games.

Nope, sorry, not going to do this. You can show support by donating money to the victims' families or to help people with mental problems. You could lobby the government to change the gun laws.

This just reeks of being a publicity stunt for GamerFitNation. As Zoidberg would say: Your movement is bad and you should feel bad.

Guns laws has nothing to do with it.

All that will happen is the common person won't be protected anymore, while violent and dangerous criminals will be armed. In other countries, houses don't get robbed when no one is home, they got robbed while you are in them. Go try robbing someone's house in Texas while they are still home.

There have been plenty of times where one common person had a concealed weapon, and stopped a violent crime from happening and getting out of hand. There was a man stabbing people in a church, but someone shot him and he wasn't able to do anymore damage.
