The "anti" crowd aren't the only ones going off of emotion and ignoring "logic and reason" and personally I find your whole argument to be a slippery-slope argument based on vague future conjecture and guessing games about what "could" happen.

That's not a debate in which I can participate in because one can't successfully debate conjecture based on possible, nebulous, future events. As I said earlier, a conversation that only has extreme scenarios and no middle ground isn't a conversation much worth having.

...but this stuff is not conjecture. It's happening right now. The U.S. government is getting bigger and bigger; making more and more laws. ...laws that are totally unconstitutional. ...like the Obamacare crap that's going on.
Plus, there's the Waco incident. ...and the Kent State incident in 1970.
This is not irrational conjecture. This is a pattern that is easy to see, when you're not blinded by propaganda.

That's what I mean. I made a single mention of an AR and that's all you're fixating on. You've thrown it back at me multiple times.

Know this, I am a gun enthusiast. I own a Mossberg 500 Home Defense model and a .380 Colt Mustang Pocketlite. I own every edition of the Shooter's Bible since 1999 and multiple editions of the Gun Trader's Guide. I'm not personally naive or ignorant about firearms. Some of them make practical sense to have, some don't (IMO).

I mean you're going on about your opposition being emotional but your strong emotions on the issue are preventing you from taking in any differing viewpoint.

Again: Very few people in this thread are interested in a debate versus strenuously beating the opposition over the head with their view.

At this point I really am going to bow out and do my best to never open this thread again. Some conversations you don't have with incidental friends; politics, religion, race. Somewhere along the line I forgot about that.

...and there's a thread about pornstars. I'll have much more fun posting in that for awhile.

Why did you mention it in the first place? I can tell you my thoughts.....because you, like many others seeing this issue through emotion, buy into the medias (and the "anti" agenda) that these are "assault weapons" and are somehow radically different from any other semi-auto hunting rifle. The ignorance (caused in large part deliberately by the media and anti gun agenda) is going to lead to the abolition of the 2nd Amendment if folks don't wake up real **** quick.

I use to think it could never happen, but now that 20+ children have died.....its go time for the agenda and I fear it now has a real chance.

Its a huge waste of time. Its like when people say they care about poor people without donating or doing anything that requires effort to change the situation.

You bring up a good point, and it reminds me a bit of Marvel's Civil War in a way. Every time I see one of these incidents pop up in the media and there's a big furor surrounding it, it makes me want to go out and buy a handgun before those somehow get banned and I get labelled a criminal for wanting something that I'll have to take down to the firing range and learn to take care of.

Yeah I'm pro gun control. There's no reason that I can see that a civilian needs an AR-15.

This is from a previous post that I made: "The 2nd amendment is there to keep a tyrannical government from enslaving American citizens. The founding fathers were smart to add it to the constitution."

There's your reason. Like it or not, guns are power. ...and as our government gains more and more power, so, too, should the country's citizens.

Truth!
_

when was the last time the government randomly shoot 20 kids while they were at school?

In 1993, the Federal Government, though with no actual proof other than some expert
telling the judge the weapons could be being modified, through allegation alone, was issued a search warrant for the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas.

76 people, including many women and children were killed because the Federal Government feared the people. If you don't think martial law and a jackboot could ever come for you......

You're gonna need unmanned drones and the technical expertise to use em...

Face reality no amount of guns could stop the government if they were serious about killing your ass.

I should buy a FPS and a gun today. Not to disrespect the tragedy, but because people need to focus on the real issue.
